Timeless Free Font License

The Timeless type family is free for personal and commercial use. No reselling, modifying or redistributing.

1Introduction

We give the Timeless type family away free of charge so that anyone can set their work in it, personal or commercial. It is not open source: the fonts may not be modified, renamed or passed around. Every copy in the world comes from us, so every copy stays the same, and stays free.

This contract lets you use, embed and build with the fonts in any medium. It asks only that you do not sell them, alter them, redistribute them or feed them to a machine, and that you send anyone who wants them to timeless.co.

2Free and perpetual, with nothing to count

The license is free and it is perpetual. There are no fees, no subscriptions and no tiers. You never have to count users, devices, company size, impressions, page views or projects, because none of them are limited.

We cannot withdraw the license on a whim. It ends only if you break this contract (section 8.1).

3Definitions

"We" and "us" are Timeless Ventures Private Limited, Chennai, the design studio that publishes the fonts and holds the copyright in them.

"You" are any person or organisation that obtains a copy of the fonts.

"The fonts" are the files we release under this license, including font files, stylesheets, build files and documentation.

A "custom cut" is a set of fonts generated by our configurator at timeless.co/type/playground, including static instances and variable fonts with alternates baked in.

An "embedding conversion" is subsetting, hinting, compressing or converting the fonts to another font format (such as WOFF or WOFF2) solely so that they can be delivered as part of a work.

A "work" is any document, website, application, video, product, artwork or other output that is set in the fonts.

The "Timeless name" is "Timeless" and any font name that begins with or contains it.

4Contract & grant of rights

By downloading, installing or using the fonts you agree to this contract. In return we grant you a free, perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to use the fonts on the terms below.

The fonts are licensed, not sold. We keep the copyright and every other right in them that this contract does not give you.

5What you can do

5.1Any use, any medium

You may use the fonts for personal and commercial purposes in any medium, including print, web, applications, video, games, packaging, signage, products and marks.

5.2Logos and marks

You may use the fonts in a logo or mark, and you may convert text set in the fonts to outlines within a specific work, such as a logo, illustration or print-ready file. Doing so gives you no right in the typeface design itself, and you may not claim exclusive rights in its letterforms as such.

5.3Web, apps and embedding

You may embed the fonts in websites, applications, documents, PDFs, ebooks, games and video, and you may make embedding conversions for that purpose, provided the resulting files are delivered only as part of the work and are not offered for download on their own.

5.4Custom cuts

A custom cut is covered by this license and may be used on the same terms. Apart from embedding conversions (5.3), the configurator is the only permitted way to produce a variant of the fonts.

5.5Collaborators and clients

You may share the fonts with collaborators and clients working on the same work, provided a copy of this contract accompanies them and they use the fonts only on these terms. Nobody needs to buy anything.

5.6Your work is yours

Works created with the fonts are not subject to this license and remain entirely yours. No attribution is required.

6Restrictions

Now that you know what you can do, here is what you can't do:

Sell, sublicense, rent or lend the fonts
Bundle, mirror or otherwise redistribute the fonts, in whole or in part, whether original, custom cut or embedding conversion
Put the fonts on a font service, a public server or a public repository
Give the fonts to anyone without a copy of this contract
Modify the fonts by adding to, deleting from or substituting any of their components, by changing formats or by porting them to a new environment, other than through a custom cut or an embedding conversion
Decompile or reverse engineer the fonts, or extract their outlines to make another font
Make new fonts based on the design that is in the fonts
Rename the fonts, or use the Timeless name to name any font, product or service
Use the fonts, or the designs embodied in the fonts, to train, fine-tune or otherwise develop an artificial intelligence or machine learning system, or include them in a dataset made for that purpose. Using such tools to help make a work set in the fonts is fine

7Custom naming & customisation

Anyone who wants the fonts should get them from timeless.co. Custom naming, exclusive cuts and any customisation beyond what the configurator offers are available only from us, under our custom licenses: timeless.co/type/license/custom-business for organisations of up to 100 members and timeless.co/type/license/custom-enterprise above that. Write to hello@timeless.co.

Nothing in this contract grants any right in the Timeless name or marks.

8Miscellaneous

8.1Termination

If you break this contract, all of your rights under it end automatically and you must stop using the fonts. Works created before that are unaffected.

8.2Warranties & liability

THE FONTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT, PATENT, TRADEMARK, OR OTHER RIGHT. IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE FONTS, THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE FONTS, OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE FONTS.

8.3Governing law & jurisdiction

This contract is governed by the laws of India. The courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to it.

8.4The whole agreement

This contract is the entire agreement between us about the fonts. If any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. We may publish new versions of this license, but the version that came with your copy of the fonts keeps applying to that copy.
